Well Test Analysis
Well test analysis is considered the most powerful reservoir management tool. At PMG, we have analyzed over 20,000 well tests in North America and internationally. We are one of the few consulting companies that use the most sophisticated software by both KAPPA Engineering and Fekete. Our staff have analyzed test from conventional and unconventional reservoirs using analytical and numerical tools. Our staff has helped our clients in all aspects of well testing including:
- Setting objectives of the well test
- Selecting the most suitable type of well test
- Design and prepare the related well test program, to ensure conclusive results are obtained.
PMG utilizes a combination of the most advanced techniques to analyze well performance, including:
- Pressure Transient Analysis (PTA); using either Saphir (by KAPPA) or FAST (by Fekete)
- Production Analysis (PA); using Topaze by KAPPA
When analyzing well test data, all available engineering, geological, petrophysical and seismic data are carefully reviewed and integrated in the analysis. In order to reduce the uncertainty inherited in the well test interpretive techniques, we use our high engineering judgment, and make sure that the analysis results do agree with the geological model.
At PMG, we development a unique technique to analysis one of the most complex well tests for Multi-stage Frac Horizontal Well (MFHW). Mr. Marcel Njongwe from Birchcliffe Energy Ltd., Calgary, expressed his appreciation to our work: "Well test analysis of MFHW's is an area in which not many people are able to handle, your shop is doing a very good job."
